    6 reasons to hit the gym during summer

    There’s no such thing as a “summer body”. There, we said it. If that’s a controversial statement, then so be it. Your body is a body, all year round.

    That said, summer opens up possibilities for all sorts of activities. Talk about swimming, hiking, sailing, riding, cycling etc. And there are definitely a lot of benefits of exercising in nature (we’re huge fans) but there are also a lot of reasons to hit the gym during summer.

    6 reasons to go to the gym during summer

    1 – Functional fitness gear all in one place

    There’s nothing like a professional gym to provide everything you need for functional fitness (and nothing you don’t) – all under one roof.     2 – Gym members are more active in general

    A study in the journal Plos One found that members of fitness clubs were 14 times more aerobically active than people who didn’t belong to clubs. Members did six hours more exercise a week (on average), had lower heart rates, smaller waistlines, and better cardiovascular fitness. Even if you mix up gym days and outdoor training, a club membership in the first place will make you more likely to exercise.

    Creating our own training routines and sticking to them is not easy. However, if you have ever worked with a personal trainer, you will know that skipping suddenly is not anymore an option. And additionally, it is just much harder to cancel a session with your personal trainer than just with yourself. The look of disappointment in your trainer’s eyes is a very hard thing to endure, much harder than any possible workout.

    Meeting new people at your local health club is great – but sometimes you just want to do your own thing. That’s what makes going to the gym during summer so great! They’re often quieter in the warmer months, which you can use to your advantage. And let’s not forget about that sweet summer saviour – air conditioning! When hot weather tempts you into spending the day horizontal, eating ice cream and drinking beer, the calm and cooling atmosphere of an EVO gym is just the tonic to keep your mind and body sharp.

    6 – You’ll look even better

    If it’s true that you don’t build your summer body in the summer, it’s also true that working out before going to a pool party will make you look good.
